Only 3 hours drive from Moscow by car is located a unique old town with a beautiful name Suzdal!

On the way, any transport turns into a time machine and enters the Old Russian city. The oldest part of Suzdal is the Kremlin, it is believed that it is about a thousand years old. In the XII-XIV centuries, Suzdal happened to the capital of Russia (Russ`). Over time, the town turned into a provincial, but did not lose its charm.

From the outskirts to the center - 15 minutes by foot (5 min by bike). The beautiful old houses and the Kamenka river, winding among the field in the down city, are not less fascinated than the old churches and monasteries, which are literally at every turn here in Suzdal. You could visit the museum of wooden architecture and peasant life. On the market place they sell salted cucumbers, jam, berries, sbiten and mead. However, if you like to walk through the Market, looking for interesting things like kokoshniks, embroidered shirts and open-work tablecloths, we warn you: you will not feel the time running!

A few kilometers from Suzdal you would see an ordinary, at first glance, the village of Kideksha. But it is the place there that the very first white-stone church of Northeast Russia is preserved - the church of Boris and Gleb. Now it is a museum. It is hard not to notice the bell tower: built in the XVIII century, it is now strongly bent. There are no hotels and restaurants in Kideksha, so for comfort stay and food you will have to return to Suzdal or Vladimir.

We would offer you two options for cycling through Suzdal.

The 1st route is very simple, but it covers all the main sights of this beautiful ancient city. The route is designed for a couple of hours over a distance of 7-8 km, for those who are in Suzdal for the first time and want to see only the main sights.

From the Kremlin (Rozhdestvensky Cathedral, chambers, ramparts) through Torgovaya Ploschad to Rizpolozhensky monastery, further visit of the monastery itself and then down to the Pokrovsky monastery . After seeing the Pokrovsky monastery go through Kamenka to the Savior-Euthymius monastery. Perhaps after visiting the Savior Euthymius monastery, go to the Posad house. From the Savior Monastery of St. Euthymius - back to the Market Square along the main street.

If you get hungry during the cycle walk, we recommend having lunch in the Pokrovsky Monastery area (restaurants Limpompo, Tavern Kuchkov)

The 2nd route is a bit longer in terms of the number of attractions that you can calmly see and visit during the day. The route can be divided into two parts. (Perhaps if you have the time and want to spend the night in Suzdal, take a walk in the evening city, enjoy the silence, this route can be divided into two days).

Part 1 (purple route): Kremlin (Christmas Cathedral + chambers + you can take a circular walk along the ramparts), then through Kamenka along a wooden bridge to the Museum of Wooden Architecture. Further, through Ilyin Meadow, go to the Kozhevny Sloboda (Church of the Epiphany and John the Baptist, Tikhvin Church) and Pokrovsky Monastery.

2nd part of the route (yellow route): Spaso-Euthymius Monastery and Posadsky House next to it. Then we go along the main street to the Rizpolozhensky monastery, and from it - to the Lazarevskaya and Antipievskaya churches on the street. Old and Balzaminov’s house opposite them. And, at the end of the route - inspection of the Market Square.

The route is calm, allowing you to deviate in any place and dine at your discretion.
